Long promised to a good friend here, but only managed to upload it now. Sorry for the delay. Japanese varied whateverism, from breakbeat to psych drone. Participations from OOIOO and Yamatsuka Eye. 1998 cd on Polystar and Shock City.

The working class is under assault. The covid-19 pandemic is being used as an excuse by capitalists to exploit us even more, the governments are ratifying bills that normalize our ongoing enslavement, and bosses refuse to take any necessary precautions so that we are protected by covid. Let's rise up with rocks in our hands and full-face masks on our heads and destroy their state and their way of living.
For the May First upload, here's an awesome metallic hardcore punk band from the Netherlands playing politically charged and loud punk with a very shouty female vocalist. 2005 cd on Bullwhip Records.

Thanks to those who asked where I have been and if I've been well. Yes, I'm well, it's been getting increasingly difficult to post regularly due to this shit distance teaching I've been doing at the school where I work, plus it was a very busy month with regards to my PhD, plus some unpleasant stuff happening at work, plus taking care of my son, etc etc. It's now Orthodox Easter holidays here, so two weeks off. Unfortunately, schools are opening again in two weeks without any fucking precaution measures having been taken, and with the tourist season lurking at the threshold, I don't know how I'll manage to keep myself healthy. Fortunately, I'm getting the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine in less than two weeks, so hopefully I'll stay safe from covid, even though the area where I teach is a covid shithole.
Anyway, as a reminder of the festive period, here's the most recent Controlled Death release, it's expectedly disgustingly awesome, and it's one of the most varied releases Maso has done. 2020 cd on Total Black.

This one starts deceptively as His most noisy release so far as Controlled Death, with full-on Masonna-like voice-mic destruction but as tracks pass it becomes more and more ambient like with some serious psych-synth atmosphere in track 4 and several deadly lulling parts. 2021 5 X 7" box on Urashima.

Let's unwind a little bit from the the harsh noise and the black metal with some more early 90s superb techno from the Liquid Son collective here appearing as Digital Justice. 1991 12" on Bass Sphere.
Thursday, March 25, 2021
13 years later, the resurrection of Gehenna brought a new Sangraal 7" too. Nothing has changed, only Mike Cheese's throat has become more coarse, but apart from that expect galloping black metal hardcore. 2011 7" on Rock Cocaine.

First side is a Hiroshi Itsuki awesome disco boogie track and the second side is fucked-up snippets of loops from that track that would make awesome hip hop samples. 2017 lp on Scrotum Records.

Let's take a break from the Gero with some nice stuff on Bandcamp to support on the fee-waive Friday.
Alan Morse Davies - Ys
Working at the crossroads of avant-garde, drone and hypnagogic, Alan Morse Davies has crafted a dense cloud of music that could be considered post-industrial and medieval at the same time. On Submarine Broadcasting Company.
Drekka - Examinations 2016-2018
At times cinematic and at other times claustrophobic, this is really enveloping and mournful dark ambient. On Fabrica.
C. Lavender - Transient Seclusion
Heavy vibrating synths on spaceships. On Longform Editions.
Lush Worker - Serum
Complete zoning session as only Mike Vest of Bong can do. On TQN-aut.
Bolivian Fireships - Untitled
Yet another hazy drone/ambient/tape decay sail by J.G. Sparkes working on his alter ego as Bolivian Fireships. On Hream Recordings.
Threes And Will - Lkhümbe
Heavily badly-tripped combination of noise, zoning psychedelia and kraut by this Estonian guy. Music made by cannibals who got their hands on pedals and mics. On The Level Of Vulnerability.
Haare/VU - Split tape
Some recent Haare was hit-or-miss as it was more focused on harsh noise, but this is spot-one ritual dark ambient with some heavy junk industrial. VU plays foggy and noisy drone/ambient. On Brownhill Mafia.
Time Binding Ensemble - Nothing New Under The Sun
This is fucked up. Inspired by a Catholic seminary, musician Kay Logan processed classical instruments through crumbling tapes to make on of the most hypnagogic albums in recent memory. On Kit Records.
Harry Bertoia - Glowing Sounds
Extremely awesome gong composition recorded at three different speeds. Can't get enough of this. On Important Records.
Nurse With Wound & Aranos - [SIC]
Cavernous and unsettling electroacoustic awesomeness. On United Dairies.
Winged Ma'at - Man Is An Insect
Shit, I already liked Winged Ma'at but this too good. Heavy astral incantations of the old Egyptian gods. Must listen. On Bloxham Tapes.
Reader Advisor - Comical Palliatives for Human Disquiet
Fun With Nuns - Fun With Nuns LP
Improv collective from Thessaloniki, Greece doing punkified free jazz. On Wax Records.
Fun With Nuns - Πανήγυριc
Another recording by the same guys showing great improv skills. The sax player and the drummer are beasts! On Amateur Radio.
Controlled Death/Mayuki Hino - Split LP
The One continues to delve into the brain function of cockroaches, while on the other side there's ex-CCCC member Mayuki Hino, bombing with harsh noise stabs. On Cold Spring.
Tuesday, March 2, 2021
Awesome early 1990s techno/bleep from Bedforshire collective (which also worked under various monikers, some of which will be also posted) that receives a deserved collection. 2021 LP on Musique Pour La Danse.

Wednesday, February 17, 2021
Contains all the hot hit singles of Gero, such as the Yellow Trash Bazooka 7" (my first ever experience of Gero back in the tender age of 17). 2020 cd on Vis A Vis Audio Arts.
Tuesday, February 16, 2021
By and large a precursor of the rational of recent Gero releases, this is Indonesian or Canbodian or something like that synthetic pop. 1990 7" on Stomach Ache Records.
Sunday, February 14, 2021
A compilation featuring Controlled Death's rarest cuts, that is the Evil Discharge flexi 7", the Black Lucifer Rising tape, a track from the split with himself (that is Masonna, doh) and two unreleased tracks that have a lo-fi buried sound and feel like the aural equivalent of the functions of a zombie's brain. You already know that Controlled Death is the scariest, most unnerving shit to have emerged in many years, so no questioning you're gonna shit yourself to it. 2020 cd on Dotsmark.

One of my favorite musicians of recent years returns with yet another immersive recording. This is one feels slightly less close to his pure Lovecraftian evil approach in Capitulate, November or Lleisiau and more as a return to his more levitational early releases (the first four EPs and Dragon) with a heavy ambient wash sound, hints at orchestral music, William Basinski, Giulio Aldinucci, and Stars of the Lid, but always with his deeply personal touch. No link this time, this deserves your support, so over to his bandcamp and get it. 2020 cd on Wormhole World.
Wednesday, February 10, 2021
Even more pagan fourth-world mutant ambient jazzz from the witchdoctors of the wilderness of Maine. 2019 LP on Feeding Tube Records.
Monday, February 8, 2021
This is their most recent release and it's extremely cavernous, minimalist, and ritualistic, as well as much quieter and more esoteric. Which is a great thing when you take a listen to it. Some of the parts would actually be envied by the Wolf Eyes of Undertow. 2019 cd on Nonlocal Research.
Saturday, February 6, 2021
Starts deceptively thinking you're into their most rock records, but the two tracks in the middle are some of their jazziest to date, only to end up in an epic heavy ambient jazz ritual jam straight from the Amon Duul cauldron. 2016 tape on Lost Discoveries Exotic Music Shop.

Here's some new cool stuff to buy on today's Bandcamp free Friday.
EPIC psychedelic bubblegum drone by legendary New Zealand musician, with a track dedicated to Florian Fricke, and a sound that wouldn't be out of place in the soundtrack of Blade Runner.
Beautiful cello/electronics drone/classical experimentations, not unlike Morton Feldman.
Bong's Mike Vest offers four albums-worth of material sounding like Azathoth the blind idiot god jamming in the center of the universe with Electric Wizard and Hawkwind.
It's Bandcamp cello Friday. Another cellist experimenting with the possibilities of her instrument, this is great ambient based on processed recordings of cello similar to Giulio Aldinucci and Lawrence English.
Belgian fee folk/psych anthems in the vein of...well....the well-expected Belgian free folk quality.
If you read this blog regularly, you know what to expect from Little Skull. Enough said.
Ash Cooke's (Chow Mwng) usual abrasive prepared acoustic guitar instrument-bending improvisations are here accompanied by drums adding a more free jazz quality.

I have referred to Alice Cotton a couple of times (here and here) referring to her as pagan folk drone. She works primarily with the viola and harmonium and her captivating voice to create psychedelic forests of sound that could be considered close to Comus, Dead Can Dance, and Jordi Savall.
All Is Quiet At The Ancient Theatre (2018 tape - Bloxham Tapes)
Only Darkness Now (2020 tape - Bloxham Tapes)
Shirt Of Lace (2020 lathe vinyl- Bloxham Tapes - immersive cover of Dorothy Carter's song)
The Girl I Left Behind Time (2019 10" - Clay Pipe Music)
Michael Tanner with Alison Cotton and Lino Capra Vaccina – The Blackening (2019 sound file)
Zener_08 (2020 tape live recording - Sensory Leakage - bandcamp link/no free dl)
