Hum ‎– Le Chat Á Neuf Queues tape (Sloow Tapes)

Yet another project of Bart DePaepe, the belgian druid of psychedelic haze, this time joined by one Anne Collet. As usual, expect guitar clouds of smoke, kraut and kosmische worship, along with amazing droning-looped passages of accordion which are tha shiznit of the tape. Great stuff yo, especially track 2 and the hair-rising, dungeon-sounding track 6. 2015 tape on Sloow Tapes.

Bjerga / Iversen ‎– In Broken Dreams The World Still Keeps Turning cdr

Great live performance of the two Norwegiann dudes, this falls more on the droney side, but has a great guitar noise ending. 2006 cdr on Dead Sea Liner.

Bjerga/Iversen ‎– Invisible Empire cdr

This wee cdr contains two different-sounding tracks. The first is a great drone hymn accentuated by feedback whistlings, while the other track is a collage of fuzz electronics, noise attacks and a sense of rhythm and melody. 2006 cdr on Nervous Nurse.

Bjerga/Iversen - Burning The Light At Both Ends cdr

This 36-minute track is less droney and much more active (by drone/noise standards, that is), with glacial electronics and nice manipulations of choir voices. 2005 cdr on Carbon Records.

Bjerga/Iversen - Intersecting Parallel Lines (2 X Cdr)

Excellent drone by the Norwegian masters, reminiscent of the sounds of spaceships in sci-fi films, sometimes exploratory and detached, sometimes dramatic and soundtrackish. Two 38-minute tracks, double CDR on Striate Cortex.

The Skull Mask - Sahumerio 3" CDR

The Skull Mask is the solo guitar project of Miguel Pérez from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, who is also known for the harsh drone project La Mancha Del Pecado (under which moniker he has collaborated extensively with the mighty Culver), and ambient black metal band Leteo. In The Skull Mask he plays ecstatic, feverish, cavernous droning acoustic guitar incantations for the deities of the underworld that would fit perfectly a wandering both along the barren landscapes of the Mexico-Texas border or on the Arabian deserts. Miguel is an amazing guitar player - not to mention a very kind person - , his style and dexterity very close to Sir Richard Bishop's, and this little, beautifully packaged cdr is one of the best examples of his amazing output, which can be found here. This is highly recommended. 3" cd on the superb but unfortunately defunct Striate Cortex.

HaiKai No Ku - Blood Sunset CD-R

I'm in a sleepy mood, so I thought I should post something monotonous, slow and heavy. HaiKai No Ku is a project of Jerome Smith [bass-also playing in Oppenheimer (already covered here), Charles Dexter Ward and Female Borstal], Sam Booth (drums), and Mike Vest (guitar-also in Bong, Space Victim, Lobster Priest, and Basilica). The presence of Mike Vest should already say a lot about what to expect here: psychedelic vastness under a lot of guitar feedback, while the riffs and the slow, crushing drums pay homage to Skullflower IIIrd Gatekeeper-era, along with a touch of the blues. Ideal for grey mornings. 2013 cdr on Molotov Productions.
