Filthy punk/dbeat as only Gero would be able to do. 1992 7" on Baby Huey.

The Gerogerigegege – 不安な演奏
Ten hours of recordings of Japanese porn and tape hiss. How more Gero could that be? 2020 10 X cd set on Urashima. (It's a big big file so please be patient)

The Gerogerigegege – Wreck Of Rock'N'Roll 'Former Self
I used to play in a noisecore band; can't estimate how much this influenced us. 1995 7" on A.I.P.R.

The Gerogerigegege – All My Best To You, With Love Juntaro
By and large a precursor of the rational of recent Gero releases, this is Indonesian or Canbodian or something like that synthetic pop. 1990 7" on Stomach Ache Records.

Controlled Death – Selected Evil And Death Works 2018-2019
A compilation featuring Controlled Death's rarest cuts, that is the Evil Discharge flexi 7", the Black Lucifer Rising tape, a track from the split with himself (that is Masonna, doh) and two unreleased tracks that have a lo-fi buried sound and feel like the aural equivalent of the functions of a zombie's brain. You already know that Controlled Death is the scariest, most unnerving shit to have emerged in many years, so no questioning you're gonna shit yourself to it. 2020 cd on Dotsmark.

Xqui - Ambients
One of my favorite musicians of recent years returns with yet another immersive recording. This is one feels slightly less close to his pure Lovecraftian evil approach in Capitulate, November or Lleisiau and more as a return to his more levitational early releases (the first four EPs and Dragon) with a heavy ambient wash sound, hints at orchestral music, William Basinski, Giulio Aldinucci, and Stars of the Lid, but always with his deeply personal touch. No link this time, this deserves your support, so over to his bandcamp and get it. 2020 cd on Wormhole World.

Million Brazilians – Urban Fossickated Octave
Even more pagan fourth-world mutant ambient jazzz from the witchdoctors of the wilderness of Maine. 2019 LP on Feeding Tube Records.

Million Brazilians - Strange Oasis
This is their most recent release and it's extremely cavernous, minimalist, and ritualistic, as well as much quieter and more esoteric. Which is a great thing when you take a listen to it. Some of the parts would actually be envied by the Wolf Eyes of Undertow. 2019 cd on Nonlocal Research.

Million Brazilians - Slip Enchantments
Starts deceptively thinking you're into their most rock records, but the two tracks in the middle are some of their jazziest to date, only to end up in an epic heavy ambient jazz ritual jam straight from the Amon Duul cauldron. 2016 tape on Lost Discoveries Exotic Music Shop.

Bandcamp Friday recommendations
Here's some new cool stuff to buy on today's Bandcamp free Friday.
Roy Montgomery - Island Of Lost Souls (Grapefruit)
EPIC psychedelic bubblegum drone by legendary New Zealand musician, with a track dedicated to Florian Fricke, and a sound that wouldn't be out of place in the soundtrack of Blade Runner.
Judith Hamann - Shaking Studies (Blank Forms Editions)
Beautiful cello/electronics drone/classical experimentations, not unlike Morton Feldman.
Lush Worker - Immunosuppression / Preacher / Cygnus / Consort (Cruel Nature Records)
Bong's Mike Vest offers four albums-worth of material sounding like Azathoth the blind idiot god jamming in the center of the universe with Electric Wizard and Hawkwind.
Martina Bertoni - Music For Empty Flats (Karlrecords)
It's Bandcamp cello Friday. Another cellist experimenting with the possibilities of her instrument, this is great ambient based on processed recordings of cello similar to Giulio Aldinucci and Lawrence English.
Sage Alyte - Paume De Pierre (Vlek)
Belgian fee folk/psych anthems in the vein of...well....the well-expected Belgian free folk quality.
Litte Skull - Lower Hope Reach (Horn Of Plenty)
If you read this blog regularly, you know what to expect from Little Skull. Enough said.
Ash Cooke & Phil Jenkins - A Fly Is In My Ear (Liquid Library)
Ash Cooke's (Chow Mwng) usual abrasive prepared acoustic guitar instrument-bending improvisations are here accompanied by drums adding a more free jazz quality.

Alison Cotton appreciation
I have referred to Alice Cotton a couple of times (here and here) referring to her as pagan folk drone. She works primarily with the viola and harmonium and her captivating voice to create psychedelic forests of sound that could be considered close to Comus, Dead Can Dance, and Jordi Savall.
All Is Quiet At The Ancient Theatre (2018 tape - Bloxham Tapes)
Only Darkness Now (2020 tape - Bloxham Tapes)
Shirt Of Lace (2020 lathe vinyl- Bloxham Tapes - immersive cover of Dorothy Carter's song)
The Girl I Left Behind Time (2019 10" - Clay Pipe Music)
Michael Tanner & Alison Cotton – Untitled (2016 tape - Reckno)
Michael Tanner with Alison Cotton and Lino Capra Vaccina – The Blackening (2019 sound file)
Zener_08 (2020 tape live recording - Sensory Leakage - bandcamp link/no free dl)

Clock DVA - Deep Floor
This is the vinyl repress of the 1979 cassette Clock DVA did as part of the Horology-DVAtion Vinyl-on-Demand box set. It is easily one of the most unsettling examples of early industrial, perhaps more consistently creepy than anything Throbbing Gristle ever did, and with added Ruth White-like synth/narration influences, coming straight from evil giallo films. As with the best Clock DVA (for example Buried Dreams), it is suffocating, murky and makes you glance behind your back waiting to see a prowler. In fact, it surprises me to hear how much recent Wolf Eyes (after 2012) have carried the torch of this sound, hoping that some people will rediscover this. 1979 tape on DVAtion, 2012 vinyl on Vinyl-on-demand.
